Zenonas Tziarras is a Lecturer in the Department of Turkish and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Cyprus. He holds a PhD in Politics and International Studies from the University of Warwick, UK where he taught World Politics. His doctoral thesis is titled, “Turkish Foreign Policy towards the Middle East under the AKP: a Neoclassical Realist Account.” He has collaborated with a number of research and policy institute in Cyprus and abroad, and taught Greek-Turkish Relations, Strategy & War, and Global Security in the Department of Social & Political Sciences at the University of Cyprus.
Between 2015 and 2017 he worked as an Associate Lecturer in Security & Diplomacy Studies at the University of Central Lancashire, Cyprus campus, teaching modules on Geopolitics and International Security for the MA in Security & Diplomacy Studies and the LLM. Between 2017 and 2018 he completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the Department of Social & Political Sciences at the University of Cyprus under the title, “Ideology and Transitional Political Systems in Foreign Policy Analysis: Neoclassical Realism and the Case of Turkey”.
His expertise and research interests lie in Turkish politics and foreign policy, the international politics of the Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean, and International Security.
He is open to supervising PhD research on any aspect of contemporary Turkish politics and foreign policy.

Zenonas holds a BA in Mediterranean Studies and International Relations from the University of the Aegean, Greece, and an MA in International Relations and Strategic Studies from the University of Birmingham, UK. He has attended specialization courses in International Security at the University of Delhi, India΄training courses in Leadership and Conflict Resolution at Koç University, Istanbul, Turkey; and has a certificate in Conflict Management & Mediation Skills (Northern Ireland Open College Network). He has presented papers at conferences in Cyprus, Greece, Turkey, Poland, Canada, the UK and Spain.
He is a frequent author and media commentator on Turkish, Middle East, and Eastern Mediterranean political affairs.

Βιογραφικό Σημείωμα στα Ελληνικά
Ο Ζήνωνας Τζιάρρας κατέχει διδακτορικό τίτλο στην Πολιτική και τις Διεθνείς Σπουδές από το Πανεπιστημίο του Warwick, του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου, με θέμα την επεξήγηση της τουρκικής εξωτερικής πολιτικής υπό το Κόμμα Διακαιοσύνης και Ανάπτυξης (AKP) σε σχέση με τη Μέση Ανατολή, εφαρμόζοντας ένα θεωρητικό πλαίσιο Νεοκλασσικού Ρεαλισμού – προσέγγιση σπάνια στην ανάλυση της τουρκικής εξωτερικής πολιτικής. Ταυτόχρονα έχει υπάρξει Εμπειρογνώμων Εξωτερικής Πολιτικής & Μέσης Ανατολής στο ινστιτούτο Strategy International με έμφαση σε θέματα της Ευρύτερης Μέσης Ανατολής και της Τουρκίας, Αναλυτής Ασφάλειας & Τουρκίας για το The Europe Levant Observatory (TELO) στη Διπλωματική Ακαδημία του Πανεπιστημίου Λευκωσίας, μεταξύ άλλων ινστιτούτων, και έχει διδάξει Ελληνο-Τουρκικές Σχέσεις, Στρατηγική & Πόλεμο, και Παγκόσμια Ασφάλεια στο Τμήμα Κοινωνικών & Πολιτικών Επιστημών του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου.
Μεταξύ 2015 και 2017 εργάστηκε στο κυπριακό παράρτημα του University of Central Lancashire διδάσκοντας μαθήματα γεωπολιτικής και ασφάλειας στο μεταπτυχιακό Σπουδών Ασφάλειας & Διπλωματίας και το μεταπτυχιακό της Νομικής. Μεταξύ 2017 και 2018 υπήρξε μεταδιδακτορικός υποτρόφος στο Τμήμα Κοινωνικών και Πολιτικών Επιστημών του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου με τίτλο έρευνας: “Ιδεολογία και Μεταβατικά Πολιτικά Συστήματα στην Ανάλυση Εξωτερικής Πολιτικής: Νεοκλασικός Ρεαλισμός και η Περίπτωση της Τουρκίας”.
Τα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα περιλαμβάνουν την τουρκική πολιτική και εξωτερική πολιτική, τη διεθνή πολιτική της Μέσης Ανατολής και της Ανατολικής Μεσογείου, και τη διεθνή ασφάλεια.
Είναι κάτοχος πτυχιακού τίτλου στις Μεσογειακές Σπουδές με κατεύθυνση τις Διεθνείς Σχέσεις από το Πανεπιστήμιο Αιγαίου (Ελλάδα), και μεταπτυχιακού τίτλου στις Διεθνείς Σχέσεις και τις Στρατηγικές Σπουδές από το Πανεπιστήμιο του Birmingham του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου. Έχει παρακολουθήσει κύκλο σεμιναρίων ειδίκευσης, μεταπτυχιακού επιπέδου, στη Διεθνή Ασφάλεια, στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Δελχί στην Ινδία, κύκλο ειδικών εκπαιδευτικών σεμιναρίων Ηγεσίας και Επίλυσης Συγκρούσεων στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κοτς, της Κωνσταντινούπολης, ενώ κατέχει πιστοποιητικό Διαχείρισης Συγκρούσεων & Διαμεσολάβησης (Northern Ireland Open College Network). Έχει παρουσιάσει το ερευνητικό του έργο σε επιστημονικά και άλλα συνέδρια σε Κύπρο, Ελλάδα, Τουρκία, Πολωνία, Καναδά, Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο και Ισπανία.
Είναι ο συνιδρυτής της πλατφόρμας Geopolitical Cyprus (geopoliticalcyprus.org), καθώς και συχνός σχολιαστής στα ΜΜΕ θεμάτων που άπτονται της Τουρκίας, της Μέσης Ανατολής και της Ανατολικής Μεσογείου.
